Zillow’s 2024 hot markets list: Is Indy included?

 

According to a new Zillow study, AFFORDABILITY is the most powerful force driving real estate, bringing lower-cost markets in the Great Lakes, Midwest, and South regions to the top of Zillow’s 2024 rankings.

It was great to see Indianapolis ranked # 4. To be honest, it did not surprise me one bit. I may be slightly biased since I’ve called this place home for most of my adult life. That aside, the boost in home values and job opportunities here is hard to overlook.

MAY 2023 Housing Market Report Just Released

Housing data released by the MIBOR BLC® comparing May 2022 to May 2023 in the 16 Central Indiana counties shows:

  • An increase in Median Sales Price of 3.8 percent to $300,000
    • Up 3.4% from last month
  • A decrease in Closed Sales of 14.8 percent to 2,901
    • Up 17.2% from previous month
  • New Listings decreased 22.7 percent to 3,319
    • Up 13% from last month
  • Absorption Rate* increased 42.9%
    • Down 23.1% from previous month
